Saturday Photohunt — Skinny

Theme: Skinny Become a Photo Hunter

The theme this week is Skinny.

When I saw this weeks theme, I cringed. People have always called my Princess skinny and mostly I wish they wouldn’t say it in front of her. I don’t want her to be self-conscious of her body size in any way, I don’t want her to think about being skinny or being fat. She has always been on the slender side, but she has filled out lately. She is still tall and slender but she looks more average. Here is a pic from quite a few years ago, back when my now almost six year old girl was still young enough to be in diapers insisting on wearing a dress that is waaay too small. So here she is in some of her more skinny years. She certainly was cheerful girl though!

  1. Ooo dear. I too dislike it when people make such remarks [especially with girls] I try hard to make positive comments that don’t refer to anything physical or what they’re wearing but it can be quite a challenge sometimes.
    Best wishes

  2. Aww, she’s adorable! ;o)

  5. What an adorable and happy child!

  6. I agree…I don’t want my girls thinking about being skinny OR fat! I just want them to be content with who they are!! My 3rd daughter (she’s now 17) used to cry when her sisters told her she had skinny legs! My skinny post is up at http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/prodoceo/459874/

  8. Hi there – sorry I haven’t visited in a while – busy with well…life I guess. So I am so glad to read that you are pregnant – I will follow with interest. Skinny ah yes – the dilemmas of body image – but my skinny is our ballerina. Your princess is beautiful as always!! Enjoy your weekend.

  9. She might look skinny, but she’s also looking very healthy and happy.
I’ve been labelled skinny almost all my life, to a point it’s pretty depressing.. my take is “as long as we’re healthy” it’s all that matters wheather we are skinny or fat. :)

  10. Great shot!!! This is a tough theme this week!

  11. OMG. She s THE CUTE!!!

  12. I understand the concern for the comments. I am just over 5 feet and weigh 96 pounds and have never been able to be the average size of my friends. When I was younger my grandmother always had my mom take me to the doctor to see if there was something wrong. But nope nothing I’m just little. As I began to become an adult I started to realize that as long as I was eating healthy and felt good there was nothing wrong. Now I see all of these over weight children and am thankful that I did not have to go through all of the dieting as a child or an adult. Now my little boy is 9 and he is little too. I have told him that if and when people say something to him about being little to just say god makes all shapes and sizes and he must have a plan for me so I’m just right! Being a girl is very hard anyway, then you get into middle school where all of your friends start to develope and you are not really filling out just maybe up only. You must just instill in your little girl that she is beautiful and she should be thankful that she doesn’t have to loose weight because that I would think would be hard especially for a kid. Also only in America is she skinny, and people will notice it more here because the majority of people here are over weight. My step grandmother said to me one time when I was 7 at a family reunion in front of people “Rhonda you are so skinny you’d better eat more” my reply wasen’t what my mother expected but I was sick of it so I said well at least I’m not a fat like you! She never said another word about it to me. Good luck and your little girl will be fine. She will deal with it herself just fine. And it will teach her to be a kind individual in school to other kids that may be over weight. Being skinny or little is just as frustrating as being over weight. I could eat all day long and never gain a pound so I give up and just go on with life.
